What We Offer
Outreach
As "a body of Christian believers growing in active faith, striving to serve God and humankind through love, grace, and material sharing" (Mission Statement) our congregation participates in several outreach ministries.
We publish a monthly newsletter (summer months excepted) called Connections, copies of which can be found under the Newsletter tab. Christine Morrison is doing an excellent job as our current editor. Various members of our congregation, including our Pastor and Church Council regularly contribute articles of both an interest and informative nature but also a faith based growth viewpoint. Connections is archived and available on our website.
Members from All Saints regularly participate in the ”Saturday Night Supper Program” at Royal City Mission in downtown Guelph. Our congregation makes donations, cooks the food, looks after the kitchen and serving line (at least 12 each meal) and cleans up afterwards. We work on a rotational basis with other congregations and groups throughout Guelph. On a typical Saturday night 160 meals or more may be served. During the pandemic we continue to regularly support Royal City Mission with sandwiches.
Each Christmas the ‘Mary Guse Giving Tree’ supports the “Christmas Bureau” in Guelph by collecting gifts for children (for the Christmas Hamper program), items for Women in Crisis and Better Beginnings, and filling gift bags for the Chalmers Community Services Christmas Gift Bag campaign.
The Silvercreek Community Market.is a free fresh food market that runs from 2-3 p.m. (or until all the food is gone) on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for registration and the distribution begins at 2 pm. The Market’s goal is to help local families and individuals who are experiencing food insecurity by providing fresh nutritious fruits and vegetables. COBS Bread partners with us to provide fresh baked goods to our guests. Please being your own bags. Everyone is welcome at the Market!
The Children’s Reading Room is a new partner is the building and offers free quality children’s book (for children to take home and keep) at each visit. Geared to children ages birth to 12 years. Open for drop-in family programs every Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 – 5:00 pm; Thursdays from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Circle time is at 10:00 am each day and a literacy focused craft activity happens at 11:00 am on Thursdays. Call 226-706-9845 for more information or just drop by.
Since 2005 we have been supporting the wider community in providing space for community partners to meet: Sundays in Royal City (NA), Mondays (AA-Flying Blind) and Gamblers Anonymous , Tuesdays (TOPS – Take Pounds Off Sensibly), Wednesdays (AA-Helping Hands ) and Al-Anon Family Group, Thursdays (TOPS) and Tri-County Recovery ( SAA).
In 2021 the Guelph Male Choir started using our space for practices (Wednesday nights) and concerts and was joined in 2022 by Guelph Tai Chi for Health (Mondays and Fridays).
Contact the church office if you wish to connect with any of our community partners.
Special thanks to Church Members who regularly participate in and support our Outreach Ministry.
